The author examines the stability of nontrivial solutions to the Navier-Stokes equations on a three-dimensional torus. The system considered corresponds to the one that is obtained in the stability analysis of a solution regular and global in time. Estimates of solutions are obtained that belong to anisotropic Sobolev spaces. The local existence is proved using an appropriate sequence of successive approximations. To obtain the estimate the Marcinkiewicz theorem is used. To prove the global existence convenient a priori estimates are used and the possibility of prolonging the solution in time. It is shown that the perturbation can be controlled in an appropriate norm if its initial data are small enough.
