    The authors consider isentropic case for the compressible Navier-Stokes equations (i.e. the pressure \(p=a \varrho^\gamma\), \(\gamma >1\), \(\varrho\) the density). They show that for finite energy weak solutions with the density square integrable up to the boundary and for \(\gamma \geq \frac 95\) the global trajectorries of density and momentum are asymptoticaly compact. More precisely, let \(f_n\) be a sequence of measurable functions which is uniformly bounded in \(L^\infty(\mathbb R^+\times \Omega)\) and let \((\varrho_n, u_n)\) be the corresponding finite energy weak solutions with the same total mass. Then for any sequence \(t_m \to \infty\) there exist a subsequence \(t_n\) such that \(\varrho_n(t_n+t) \to \overline \varrho (t)\) strongly in \(L^\alpha(\Omega)\) and weakly in \(L^\gamma(\Omega)\), \(1\leq \alpha<\gamma\), \((\varrho_n u_n)(t_n+t) \to (\overline \varrho \overline u) (t)\) weakly in \(L^1(\Omega)\), \(\varrho_n(t_n+\cdot,\cdot) \to \overline \varrho (\cdot,\cdot)\) strongly in \(L^\gamma (J\times\Omega)\), \((\varrho_n u_n)(t_n+\cdot,\cdot) \to (\overline \varrho \overline u)(\cdot,\cdot)\) strongly in \(L^1 (J\times\Omega)\) for any \(J\subset \mathbb R\), \(| J| \leq 1\). Morerover, \(\overline \varrho\), \(\overline u\) are finite energy weak solutions with the force \(\overline f = \lim_{n\to \infty} f(t_n +\cdot)\) in the weak \(L^\infty\) topology. The proof is based on careful study of the ''defect measure'' \(\overline{(\ln \varrho) \varrho} - \ln (\overline {\varrho})\overline \varrho \) and on the properties of the effective viscous flux.
