An invertible bounded linear operator \(T\) on a complex Hilbert space \({\mathcal H}\) is called log-hyponormal if \(\log(TT^*)\leq \log(T^* T)\). Let \(T= U|T|\) with unitary \(U\); for an arc \(\gamma\) on the unit circle the section \(T_{[\gamma]}\) cut by \(\gamma\) is defined by \(T_{[\gamma]}:= U_\gamma \exp(\{E(\gamma)(\log|T|) E(\gamma)\}|_{{\mathcal H}_\gamma})\), where \(E(\gamma)\) denotes the spectral measure of \(\gamma\) corresponding to \(U\), \({\mathcal H}_\gamma\) denotes the range of \(E(\gamma)\), and \(U_\gamma:= U|_{{\mathcal H}_\gamma}\). Spectral properties of \(T_{[\gamma]}\) are established such as: The spectrum of \(T_{[\gamma]}\) is contained in the closed sector defined by \(\gamma\).
