The author proves a new computational criterion for the nonexistence of elliptic curves with everywhere good reduction over a given quadratic number field~\(k\). The main result shows that under a certain condition, every such elliptic curve must have a \(k\)-rational 2-torsion point. Earlier results due to \textit{B.~Setzer} [Pac. J. Math.\ 74, 235-250 (1978; Zbl 0394.14018)] in the imaginary case and \textit{S.~Comalada} [Pac. J. Math. 144, 237-258 (1990; Zbl 0732.11028)] in the real case give criteria for when such a curve can exist. As an application of the result, the author produces a list of quadratic number fields \(k = \mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{m})\), \(|m|< 100\), such that no elliptic curve with everywhere good reduction exists over~\(k\). It is claimed that the cases \(m = 82\) and \(m = -74\) are new.
