It is given a \((320,88,24)\)-difference set in \(({\mathbb Z}_4)^3\times {\mathbb Z}_5\). This result, obtained using building sets [see \textit{J. A. Davis} and \textit{J. Jedwab}, A unifying construction for difference sets, J. Comb. Theory, Ser. A 80, 13-78 (1997; Zbl 0884.05019)], technical lemmas and character calculations, removes a gap left in a theorem by Davis and Jedwab. There are \((64,4,64,16)\)-relative difference sets in \({\mathbb Z}_{16}\times ({\mathbb Z}_4)^2\) and in \({\mathbb Z}_4\times ({\mathbb Z}_8)^2\). An abelian group \(G\) of order \(2^{2d+4}(2^{2d+2}-1)/3\) contains a Davis-Jedwab difference set which has the character divisibility property if and only if the exponent of the Sylow \(2\)-subgroup of \(G\) does not exceed \(4\).
