    Let \(\Delta\) denote the unit disk. Suppose \(f:\Delta\to \Delta\) denotes a quasiconformal mapping, \(\mu_f\) is its complex dilatation and \(T_\mu \varphi (z)\) is given by the formula \[ T_\mu \varphi(z)= \biggl|1-\mu(z) \frac{\varphi(z)} {|\varphi (z)|} \biggl|[1-|\mu (z)|^2]^{-1},\quad z\in \Delta. \] \textit{E. Reich} and \textit{K. Strebel} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 138, 211-222 (1969; Zbl 0175.08402)] established the inequality \((A)\) \[ \iint_\Delta \bigl|\varphi(z) \bigr|dxdy\leq \iint_\Delta \bigl|\varphi(z) \bigr|T_\mu\varphi (z)dxdy \] provided \(f\) is the identity on \(\partial \Delta\), \(\mu=\mu_f\) and \(\varphi(z)\) is analytic and integrable on \(\Delta\). The main aim of this paper is to extend \((A)\) to functions \(f\) that (i) are homeomorphisms of \(\overline\Delta\) onto itself, (ii) satisfy \(f= \text{Id}\) on \(\partial \Delta\), and (iii) have generalized first order derivatives on \(\Delta\). Applications are given and interesting conclusions are drawn.
