Oscillation criteria for second-order matrix differential systems (Q5943767)

Here, the author investigates oscillatory properties of the second-order matrix differential system \[ (P(t)Y')'+Q(t)Y=0, \] where \(P,Q,Y\) are \(n\times n\)-matrices, \(P,Q\) are symmetric and \(P\) is positive-definite. The oscillation criteria obtained are proved using the generalized Riccati substitution coupled with the so-called \(H\)-function averaging technique introduced in the scalar case by \textit{Ch. G. Philos} [Arch. Math. 58, No. 5, 453-461 (1992; Zbl 0739.39003)]. A related recent paper is by \textit{F. W. Meng, J. Z. Wang} and \textit{Z. W. Zheng} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 126, No. 2, 391-395 (1998; Zbl 0891.34037)].
