Let \({\mathcal F}\) be a foliation of even codimension [\textit{P. Molino}, Riemann foliations, Prog. Math. 73 (1988; Zbl 0633.53001)]. A twistor space \({\mathcal Z}({\mathcal F})\) which consists of all complex structures of the fibers of the transversal bundle of \({\mathcal F}\) is constructed here. There exists a well defined lift of \({\mathcal F}\) to \({\mathcal Z}({\mathcal F})\), the leaves of which are covering spaces of the original leaves. A Bott connection of \({\mathcal F}\) defines two transversal almost complex structures \(({\mathcal C}_1, {\mathcal C}_2)\) on the lifted foliation. The existence of a Bott connection which yields projectable structures is equivalent to the fact that \({\mathcal F}\) has a transversal projective structure which satisfies a certain cohomological condition. The integrability conditions are analogous with the classical twistor spaces. The essential integrability condition of \(\ell_1\) is the flatness of the transversal projective structure of \({\mathcal F}\).
