The following initial-boundary value problem to the Navier-Stokes equations is considered \[ \begin{aligned}&\frac{\partial v}{\partial t}-\Delta +(v\cdot)\nabla v-\nabla q=f,\quad \text{div}\, v=0, \quad \text{in } \Omega\times(0,T)\\&v=\phi,\quad x\in \partial\Omega,\qquad v|_{t=0}=v_0,\quad x\in \Omega. \end{aligned} \] Here \(\Omega\) is an interior or exterior domain with smooth boundary. The problem is studied in anisotropic \(L_p\) Sobolev spaces \((1<p<\infty)\) of Bessel-potential type \(H^{s+2,s/2+1}_p\) or Besov type \(B^{s+2,s/2+1}_p\). For \(s>\frac 1p -1\) (with \(s\geq\frac{n+2}p-3\)) solutions to the problem were found by the author [Differ. Integral Equ. 8, 1013--1046 (1995; Zbl 0831.35126)] and [Proceedings of the third international conference on the Navier-Stokes equations: theory and numerical methods, World Scientific. Ser. Adv. Math. Appl. Sci. 47, 46--63 (1998; Zbl 0934.35119)]. In the paper under review the solvability extends to spaces with \(s>\frac 1p -2\) for \(v_0=0\;(s>-2\) if \(f=0)\), \(s>\frac 2p -2\) for \(v_0\neq 0\). Methods of the theory of parabolic pseudodifferential boundary value problems are used.
