Research by the authors, published in Aequationes Math. 58, No. 1-2, 176-182 (1999; Zbl 0933.39050) and 59, No. 3, 298-305 (2000; Zbl 0962.39013), and in Part I, Publ. Math. 56, No. 1-2, 179-183 (2000; reviewed above), is continued. It deals with the functional equation \(g[(ax^n +b)/(cx^n +d)]=[af(x)^n +b]/[cf(x)^n +d]\) \((n\in \mathbb{N}\); \(a,b,c,d\in F\) form a nonsingular matrix) for all \(x,y\in F\) with \(cx^n+d\neq 0\), \(cf(x)^n+d\neq 0\); \(f,g: F\to F,\) where \(F\) is a field containing \(\mathbb{Q}\) and \(f\) is injective. In particular the following result is offered: \(f(1)^{-1}f\) is a field automorphism if \(c=0\) or \((c^{-1}d)^2\) is the \(n\)-th power of an element in \(F\) (this alternative condition is always satisfied if \(n=2\) or \(F\) is algebraically closed or real closed).
