The author investigates properties of the unique modified Engel alternating series representation for real numbers. The expansion can be generated by an explicit transformation \(T:[0,1] \to [0,1)\). It is shown that \(T\) is ergodic with respect to Lebesgue measure \(\lambda\), but not \(\lambda\)-measure preserving.
