Global asymptotic stability of a two species competitive system with stage structure and harvesting (Q5945189)

Here, the authors consider a stage structured model (i.e. immatures and matures structuration). The model also includes competition with another species. They obtain a system of three differential equations with delay in equations corresponding to the mature and immature components. The immature component has an explicit integrated form in function of the mature component. Furthermore, the system formed with the mature component and the other species is independent of the immature component. So, they investigate a system of two differential equations with delay. The authors investigate the local stability of equilibriums, by using characteristic equations and elementary arguments. Also, they investigate the global stability of the interior equilibrium. The technique used is based on comparison results for monotone delay differential equations, combined with induction arguments. Finally, they compute the optimal harvesting.
