The authors simplify and strengthen two recent results on reflexive spaces, due to \textit{S. Adly, E. Ernst}, and \textit{M. Thera}[J. Convex. Anal. 8, No.~1, 127-148 (2001; Zbl 0989.49016)], who showed that for any linearly bounded but unbounded closed convex subset the nonsupport functionals are dense in the polar set, and, also, any nonsemicoercive proper convex function has an arbitrary small \(L^{\infty}\)-perturbation that is \(\inf\)-nonattaining (i.e. does not attain its infimum over some reflexive Banach space). The authors of this paper show that generic statement can be proved for both results. A subset of a Baire space is called generic if it contains a dense \(G_{{\mathcal\delta}}\) subset thereof. In addition, they show that the second result of the above-mentioned authors is true even without reflexivity.
