Consider the abstract differential equation \[ {du_t\over dt}= A(t) u_t,\quad t> 0,\quad u_0\in\phi\in C^1([-r,0]; X),\tag{\(*\)} \] with \(u_t(s)= u(t+s)\) and \(A(t): D(A(t))\subseteq C([-r,0]; X)\to C([-r,0]; X)\). The main result states: if \(\phi\in C^1([-r,0]; X)\) and it satisfies \({d\phi(0)\over ds}= F(0,\phi)\), then problem \((*)\) has a unique solution \(u_t\) with the properties \(u_t(s)= u(t+ s)\), \(\sup_{t\in [0,T]}\|u_t\|_{C^1}\leq k\) for any \(u_t\in D(A(t))= \{u\in C^1([-r, 0]; X): u'(0)= F(t,u)\}\).
