First, the author studies the evolution of a two-dimensional vesicle by modeling the vesicle as a closed curve, by analogy with the motion by Laplacian of curvature. It is shown that different decay laws govern the asymptotic relaxation to a circle. Then the vesicle is modelled as an axisymmetric compact surface, and, by linearizing the evolution equation, the author studies the asymptotic relaxation of the vesicle to a sphere. In this way, it is possible to determine explicitly the relaxation time associated with normal modes, avoiding the computation of the full solution.
