On Toda lattices and orthogonal polynomials (Q5946623)

After introducing Toda and Langmuir lattices, the author gives a short overview of their characterizations and a nice connection reminiscent of the transformation formulae for contraction of a continued fraction. Moreover, the associated orthogonal polynomials are introduced. In the important third section, the author gives results on the measures and functions that can be seen as generators of the Toda lattice. Finally, in section 4, two examples are looked into: a very simple case leading to transformed Chebyshev polynomials of the second kind and a case leading to elliptic integrals. An interesting paper.
