On elliptic genera and foliations (Q5946662)

The authors prove some vanishing theorems of characteristic numbers for foliated manifolds with group actions. Instead of applying the index theory for foliations as usual, they use certain new elliptic operators particularly designed to study integrable sub-bundles with a spin structure (so-called sub-Dirac operator).
