For initial-value problems on the whole real line the numerical method presented here consists of first mapping the domain onto the interval \((-1, 1)\) and then using a Gegenbauer spectral method to solve the mapped problem. Error estimates are given for linear problems, and sample computations are reported for the Klein-Gordon equation.
