Control of fluid structure interactions by means of piezoelectric actuators has attracted a lot of attention recently and is the subject of this paper. In particular the authors investigate the spherical-symmetrical steady state response of a piezoelectric spherical shell which is filled with a compressible, nonviscous fluid. For such problems it is especially important to give a clear formulation of the mechanical and electrical boundary conditions. The shell is considered to consist of \(N\) perfectly bonded piezoelectric or elastic layers. Linear constitutive relations are stipulated. General solutions in form of Bessel and Gamma functions are presented. The paper gives a clear insight how problems of the considered type have to be formulated and solved.
