Let \(X\) be a Banach space and let \(A\) be a discrete operator (i.e. a linear, not necessarily everywhere defined operator, such that \((zI-A)^{-1}\) is compact for a certain \(z\) in the resolvent set of \(A\)). In particular, the spectrum \(\sigma(A)\) of \(A\) is denumerable set of eigenvalues of finite multiplicity \(\{\lambda_n\}_{n\geq 1}\) with no finite limit point. Let \(E_{\lambda_n}\) be the eigenprojection associated with \(\lambda_n\). Let also \(Q(A)=\{x\in X;E_{\lambda_n}x=0,n\geq 1\}\). Starting from some classical results contained in the prestigious monograph ``Linear Operators'' (Part III) by \textit{N. Dunford} and \textit{J. T. Schwartz} (1971; Zbl 0243.47001), the author gives conditions under which \(Q(A)=\{0\}\) implies Sp\((A)=X\), where Sp\((A)\) is the smallest closed manifold containing all manifolds \(E_{\lambda_n}X,n\geq 1\), in terms of the boundedness of the sequence of eigenprojections \((E_{\lambda_n})_{n\geq 1}\).
