    Let \(\Gamma\) be a cofinite Fuchsian group acting on the upper half-plane \(\mathbb{H}\). Assume that \(\Gamma\) has precisely one cusp positioned at \(i\infty\) and that the stabilizer \(\Gamma_\infty\) is generated by \(Sz:= z+1\). Choose a fundamental polygon \({\mathcal F}\) for \(\Gamma\) which contains a strip \([0,1]\times [B,\infty[\) for some \(B\geq 1\). Let \({\mathcal C}_h\) denote the pullback of \(\{x+ih: 0\leq x\leq 1\}\) inside \({\mathcal F}\) for small values of \(h>0\). It is known that \({\mathcal C}_h\) becomes equidistributed with respect to the hyperbolic area measure \(\mu\) as \(h\to+0\) in the following sense: \[ \int_0^1 f(x+ih) dx\to \frac{1}{\mu({\mathcal F})} \int_{\mathcal F} f d\mu \] for every compactly supported function \(f\in C^2 (\Gamma\setminus \mathbb{H})\). The aim of the work under review is to show that more generally \[ \frac{1}{b-a} \int_a^b f(x+ih) dx\to \frac{1}{\mu({\mathcal F})} \int_{\mathcal F}f d\mu \] uniformly as \(h\to +0\) so long as \(a,b\) (depending on \(h\)) satisfy \(b-a> h^{c(\Gamma)- \varepsilon}\) for some constant \(c(\Gamma\)) which is explicitly given in this paper.
