Using the theory of Witt groups of triangulated categories [cf. \textit{P. Balmer}, ``Triangular Witt groups. I: The 12-term localization exact sequence'', \(K\)-Theory 19, No. 4, 311-363 (2000; Zbl 0953.18003)] the author establishes a long exact Mayer-Vietoris sequence for Witt groups of regular schemes on which 2 is everywhere invertible. He also proves homotopy invariance for the same Witt groups generalizing \textit{M. Karoubi}'s result [``Localisation de formes quadratiques. II'', Ann. Sci. Éc. Norm. Supér., IV. Sér. 8, 99-155 (1975; Zbl 0345.18007)] to regular schemes. Finally, the author applies these results in combination with the general formalism developed by \textit{J. L. Colliot-Thélène, R. T. Hoobler} and \textit{B. Kahn} [``The Bloch-Ogus-Gabber theorem'', in: Algebraic \(K\)-theory (Toronto, 1996), Fields Inst. Commun. 16, Providence, 31-94 (1997; Zbl 0911.14004)] to prove the Gersten-Witt conjecture for semi-local regular rings of geometric type over infinite fields of characteristic different from two.
