The authors give a necesseary and sufficient condition for a poset to admit an \(n\)-ary idempotent totally symmetric operation for every \(n\). The conditions are expressed in terms called zigzags. They also mention some open problems concerning idempotent Mal'tsev conditions for order primal algebras such as the Mal'tsev condition for congruence distributivity or modularity.
