The present synthesis about stacks and homotopy theory is a useful reference. Stacks are defined as sheaves of groupoids satisfying an effective descent condition. Homotopic properties of associated classifying simplicial sheaves are discussed. The classical relation between torsors and nonabelian cohomology is then generalized. The case of sheaves of groups gives rise to quotient stacks which appear in the separable transfer construction. As a specialization one has the Breen classification of various classes of bitorsors.
