An \(n\)-tuple \((T_1,\dots,T_n)\) of commuting (linear, bounded) operators on a Banach space \(X\) has the decomposition property if \[ \ker((I-T_1)\dots(I-T_n))\subset\ker(I-T_1)+\dots+\ker(I-T_n). \] An operator \(T\) is power bounded if \(\sup\{\|T^k\|\colon k\in{\mathbb N}\}\) is finite. A Banach space \(X\) has the \(n\)-decomposition property if every \(n\)-tuple of commuting power bounded operators on \(X\) has the decomposition property. Finally, a Banach space \(X\) has the decomposition property if it has the \(n\)-decomposition property for every \(n\in{\mathbb N}\). A Banach space \(X\) is quasi-reflexive if the quotient space \(X^{\ast\ast}/X\) is finite dimensional. The order of quasi-reflexivity is equal to the dimension of this quotient. \textit{M. Laczkovich} and \textit{Sz. Révész} [Acta Math. Hungar. 55, 353-363 (1990; Zbl 0736.46013)] proved that a reflexive Banach space has the decomposition property. In the paper it is proved that every quasi-reflexive Banach space of order 1 has the \(2\)-decomposition property, but quasi-reflexive spaces of order 2 need not have this property. It is also shown that if a power bounded pointwise norm continuous operator group acts on \(X\) then every pair of operators of it has the decomposition property.
