We discuss renormalization of the three-body problem with zero-range potentials in coordinate space. The problem has an intrinsic divergence at short distances as evidenced by the Thomas effect. We show that this divergence can be eliminated by incorporating higher order terms of the effective range theory into the two-body zero-range potential.
