The authors investigate interval polynomials of the form \(P(x) = \sum_{j=0}^n A_jx^j\) for \(n=2,3,4\), where the \(A_j\) are closed real intervals. Their main objective is the kernel of \(P\), defined by \(K(P):= \{x\mid x\in \mathbb C\), \(\exists a_j\in A_j :\sum_{j=0}^n a_jx^j =0\}\). Useful characterizations and estimates of \(K(P)\) in terms of the boundaries of the \(A_j\) are presented. Numerical examples demonstrate the described ideas. See also the article ``Sharp bounds on interval polynomial roots'' by \textit{Hansen} and \textit{Walster} in Reliable Computing 8, 115-122 (2002).
