This paper presents a first-order perturbation analysis for an infinite piezoelectric plate with a centered symmetrically perturbed non-ideal crack for three types of electrical boundary conditions, namely, permeable, impermeable and conducting crack boundary conditions. Firstly, the two-dimensional analysis is reduced to standard Riemann-Hilbert problems by means of an extended Stroh formula, and the singular integral equations for the internal electric field inside the permeable crack are solved. The stress and electric intensity factors are determined to the zeroth- and first-order of accuracy, and also, the energy release rate is determined. Similar results are obtained for impermeable and conducting non-ideal cracks. A numerical example is presented for permeable crack boundary conditions in the case of a transversely isotropic piezoelectrics. The authors also obtain critical stresses for isolating and permeable electric boundary conditions under different electrical loading, and the electric distribution inside the crack.
