The authors propose an interesting construction for multidimensional multiwavelets such that the directions of analytic singularity of a signal can be estimated roughly by the coefficients in the wavelet domain, where the directional singularity comes from Sato's hyperfunction theory. This method has potential application in practical image processing, which is initially explained in the paper.
