The paper starts with a concise description of the usage of spectral sequences for poset homology computation. Then, continuing earlier work in this direction [see \textit{E. M. Feichtner} and \textit{D. N. Kozlov}, On subspace arrangements of type \({\mathcal D}\), Discrete Math. 210, No. 1-3, 27-54 (2000; Zbl 0965.52018)], the author gives several applications where the simplicial complex is the nerve of a poset. His results include both Möbius function computations and finding the Betti numbers of a poset. Some applications are given to partition-type posets. The use of spectral sequences for the computation of poset homology groups is illustrated by an informative example. For this purpose some shellability arguments from [\textit{D. N. Kozlov}, General lexicographic shellability and orbit arrangements, Ann. Comb. 1, No. 1, 67-90 (1997; Zbl 0943.52004)] are adapted. Finally, the author adresses a question put in his paper [Complexes of directed trees, J. Comb. Theory, Ser. A 88, 112-122 (1999; Zbl 0934.05041)] concerning the topological \({\mathcal S}_n\)-quotient of the simplicial complex associated in a natural way with the complete directed graph on \(n\) vertices.
