The space \(Q_p\) consists of all analytic functions \(f\) in the unit disk \(\Delta\) for which \[ \sup_{a\in \Delta} \int_{\Delta} |f'(z)|^2 g^{p}(z,a) dx dy < \infty, \] where \(g(\cdot,a)\) is the Green function of \(\Delta\) with pole at \(a\). Thus \(Q_0\) is the Dirichlet space \(D\). It turns out that \(Q_1\) coincides with the space BMOA, while, for \(p > 1\), \(Q_p\) coincides with the space of Bloch functions. For \(0 < p < 1\) the \(Q_p\) furnish a strictly increasing sequence of spaces, each invariant under Möbius transformations of the disk onto itself. Each \(Q_p\) space equipped with the appropriate norm is a Banach space. The systematic study of \(Q_p\) spaces (\(0<p<1\)) started about seven years ago. The book of Xiao is a 112 page research monograph that covers most of the results obtained these years. The topics covered include: various characterizations of \(Q_p\), composition operators (on \(Q_p\) or into \(Q_p\)), series expansions of \(Q_p\) functions, Carleson measures and relations of \(Q_p\) with Mean Lipschitz and Besov spaces, inner, outer functions and Blaschke products in \(Q_p\), boundary behavior of \(Q_p\) functions (Chapters 1-6). The last two chapters (7 and 8) study \(Q_p(T)\), the space of functions on the unit circle that are boundary limits of \(Q_p\) functions. Among the presented results are: characterizations of \(Q_p(T)\), \(\overline{\partial}\)-estimates, a Fefferman-Stein type decomposition, the corona theorem for \(Q_p(T)\), a Carleson measure characterization of interpolating sequences in \(Q_p\cap H^{\infty}\), a dyadic version of \(Q_p(T)\), and relations with wavelets. At the end of each chapter there are bibliographical notes with references to the extensive bibliography at the end of the book. The exposition should be accessible to graduate students with a basic knowledge of complex and real analysis. A previous acquaintance with the BMO analytic functions and Bloch functions, however, would certainly be usefull.
