Vita: Friedrich Wilhelm Wiener. (Q5949255)

The authors discuss the life and work of a little-known Prussian mathematician named Friedrich Wilhelm Wiener (born in 1884) having a Ph.D. in mathematics under the direction of Edmund Landau at Göttingen in 1911. The authors were led to this mathematician because of a reference made by H. Bohr in [Proc. Lond. Math. Soc. (2) 13, 1--5 (1913; JFM 44.0289.01)] which they used in their own paper [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 125, No. 10, 2975--2979 (1997; Zbl 0888.32001)].
