In the paper under review the author considers the universal enveloping algebras of a Lie algebra \(\mathfrak Q\) over a field of characteristic 0 and of an ideal \(\mathfrak N\) of \(\mathfrak Q\). He studies the problem of the existence of ideals \(J\) of \(U({\mathfrak Q})\) lying over an ideal \(I\) of \(U({\mathfrak N})\) (i.e. \(J\cap U({\mathfrak N})=I\)). He is motivated by the problems of inducing of representations of Lie algebras and Lie groups and the restricting of such representations when the restriction is ``well behaved''. If \(V\) is a module from \(\text{Mod}_{{\mathfrak N} \text{-fin}}({\mathfrak Q})\) and \(\widehat V=U({\mathfrak Q})\otimes_{U({\mathfrak N})}V\) is the \(\mathfrak Q\)-module induced by \(V\), then \(\text{Annspec}_{U({\mathfrak Q})}\widehat V\) and \(\text{Annspec}_{U({\mathfrak N})}V\) denote the sets of annihilator primes of the \(U({\mathfrak Q})\)-module \(\widehat V\) and the \(U({\mathfrak N})\)-module \(V\), respectively. The main result of the paper establishes a relation between the induction process \(V\mapsto \widehat V\) and the going up for the primes from \(\text{Annspec}_{U({\mathfrak N})}V\) to \(\text{Annspec}_{U({\mathfrak Q})}\widehat V\). As a corollary the author gives a geometric interpretation of this relation in the case when \(\mathfrak Q\) is an abelian Lie algebra, i.e. in the classical setting of affine algebraic geometry.
