Let \(G\) be a finite group and \(p\) a prime. A \(p\)-block \(B\) of \(G\) is called a TI block if every \(B\)-subpair \((Q,b_Q)\) with \(Q\neq 1\) is contained in a unique Sylow \(B\)-subpair \((D,b_D)\). It is called a TI defect block if \(D\cap D^g=1\) for every defect group \(D\) of \(B\) and every \(g\in G\setminus N_G(D)\). The authors prove that every TI block is also a TI defect block, and they construct examples of TI defect blocks which are not TI blocks. They also define and discuss more general concepts like strongly \(B\)-embedded subgroups and the \(k\)-generated \(B\)-core of \(G\).
