In [\textit{X. Xu}, Manuscr. Math. 100, 489--518 (1999; Zbl 1027.17007)], over an algebraically closed field \(\mathbb{F}\) of characteristic \(0\), two families of simple infinite dimensional Lie algebras were introduced, which are, in some sense, generalizations of the Block algebras [cf. \textit{R. Block}, Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 9, 613--620 (1958; Zbl 0087.26302)]. In the article under review, the second family of them, which is called the Lie algebras of Xu type here and is denoted by \(\mathcal{B=B(\Gamma }\),\(J)\) where \(\Gamma \) is an additive subgroup of \(\mathbb{F}\) (satisfying some technical conditions) and \(J=J_1\times J_2\times J_3\times J_4\) where \(J_p=\{0\}\) or \(N=\{0,1,2\dots\},\) \(p=1,2,3,4,\) is considered. The derivation algebra \(\text{Der\,} \mathcal{B}\) of \(\mathcal{B}\) is determined, and necessary and sufficient conditions for \(\mathcal{B(\Gamma }\),\(J)\cong \mathcal{B(\Gamma }^{\prime },J^{\prime })\) are obtained.
