Fix an integer \(n\geq 2\). Let \(\pi\) and \(\sigma\) be cuspidal automorphic representations of \(\text{GL}_n (\mathbb{A})\) and \(\text{GL}_{n-1} (\mathbb{A})\) respectively. Jacquet, Piatetski-Shapiro and Shalika defined an \(L\)-function \(L(\pi,\sigma,s)\) as a kind of adelic integral of Rankin-Selberg type. \textit{D. Kazhdan, B. Mazur} and \textit{C.-G. Schmidt} [J. Reine Angew. Math. 519, 97-141 (2000; Zbl 0941.11020)] studied the critical values of the twisted \(L\)-function \(L(\pi \otimes\chi, \sigma,s)\) for \(\chi\) ranging through finite Dirichlet characters. In particular they constructed, assuming that \(\pi\) and \(\sigma\) both occur in cohomology and are unramified at a prime \(p\), a \(p\)-adic distribution \(\mu\) on \(\mathbb{Z}_p^\times\) (with values in an algebraic number field) such that integration of Dirichlet characters of \(p\)-power conductor over \(\mu\) yields the normalized special values \(L(\pi\otimes\chi, \sigma,\frac 12)\). The author explains how to modify the distribution so that it becomes a \(p\)-adic measure (Theorem 3.5).
