The paper deals with the development of the notions of atom and molecule introduced in [\textit{A. V. Bolsinov, S. V. Matveev} and \textit{V. T. Fomenko}, Usp. Mat. Nauk 45, No. 2, 49-77 (1990; Zbl 0705.58025) and \textit{A. T. Fomenko}, Adv. Sov. Math. 6, 1-35 (1991; Zbl 0746.58036)] for the investigation of integrable Hamiltonian systems. The author discusses the notion of the height atom and establishes the height criterion. Also the height atoms with no more than four tops are classified.
