If \(M\) is a closed convex body containing the origin in euclidean \(n\)-space, then there exist linearly independent functions \(f_1,\ldots,f_n\in C([0,1])\) so that \(M=\{(x_1,\ldots,x_n):x_1f_1+\ldots+x_nf_n\leq 1\) everywhere\(\}\). (The converse is obvious, so the functions may be pathological.) The author proves this and related representation results by establishing a version of the Banach-Mazur theorem for spaces with an asymmetric norm: under a separability condition, any such space embeds linearly and isometrically into \(C([0,1])\), equipped with the asymmetric norm induced by a simple sign-sensitive weight.
