Pontryagin classes of generalized symmetric spaces (Q5951087)

The author obtains the explicit expression of the real Pontryagin classes for the generalized symmetric spaces. He uses the cohomology algebras of the corresponding homogeneous spaces and a description of the Cartan algebra of the subgroup, suitable for the complementary roots. Then he obtains the Pontryagin classes of generalized symmetric spaces on the basis of the Borel-Hirzebruch theory.
