Let \(X\) be an arbitrary compact set in \(\mathbb{C}\). The author proves that an arbitrary function continuous on \(X\) and holomorphic in the interior of \(X\) can be approximated by functions bianalytic in neighborhoods of \(X\), i.e., solutions of the equation \(\overline{\partial}^2f=0\) in some neighborhoods of \(X\). He establishes the following result which was stated as a conjecture by J. Verdera. \textbf{Theorem.} Let \(f(z)\) be a function continuous on a compact set \(X\) and analytic in the interior of \(X\). Then for each \(\varepsilon >0\) there exists a function of the form \[ F(z)=\sum\limits_{i=1}^n\lambda_i\frac{\overline{z-z_i}}{z-z_i} , \] where the points \(z_i\), \(i=1,\dots,n\), lie in the complement of \(X\) and the \(\lambda_i\), \(i=1,\dots,n\), are constants, such that \(|f(z)-F(z)|<\varepsilon\) everywhere on \(X\).
