Bilinear, continuous-time, finite-dimensional control systems are considered. Using methods taken from functional analysis the properties of attainable sets are discussed. It is generally assumed that the values of controls are restricted to a certain given set and the control time is constrained. Topological properties of the attainable sets are also derived. Moreover, several remarks and comments on the attainable sets for nonlinear and linear control systems are presented. Finally, it should be pointed out that similar attainability problem for dynamical control systems have been considered in the monographs of \textit{E. B. Lee} and \textit{L. Markus} [Foundations of optimal control theory, Wiley, New York (1967; Zbl 0159.13201)] and \textit{J. Klamka} [Controllability of dynamical systems, Kluwer, Dordrecht (1991; Zbl 0732.93008)].
