The authors consider regular continued fraction expansions of a real number \(X\in (0,1)\) with partial quotients forming an i.i.d. sequence of positive integers with given distribution. It is well known that the distribution \(\nu(.)\) of \(X\) is singular with respect to the Lebesgue measure. \textit{J. R. Kinney} and \textit{T. S. Pitcher} [Z. Wahrscheinlichkeitstheor. Verw. Geb. 4, 293-315 (1966; Zbl 0139.33502)] derived a formula for the Hausdorff dimension of \(\nu(.)\) defined by \[ \dim_H\nu= \inf\{\dim_H(B): \nu(B)= 1,\;B\subset (0,1)\text{ Borel set}\} \] in terms of the distribution of the generic partial quotient. The main result of this paper is that \(\dim_H\nu\) is bounded by \(1-\varepsilon_0\), where \(\varepsilon_0> 10^{-7}\) is a universal constant.
