Let \(K\) be a Choquet simplex, \(A(K)\) the set of all continuous affine functions on \(K\), and \(H\) a closed metrizable subset of the set of extreme points of \(K\). The authors prove that there exists a positive linear isometry \(L:C(H)\to A(K)\) with \(Lf=f\) on \(H\), \(f\in C(H)\), such that the constant function 1 on \(H\) is transformed into the constant function 1 on \(K\) (If it is a solution of the weak Dirichlet problem for \(f\) on \(H\).) As a consequence, a question of \textit{J. Bliedtner} and \textit{W. Hansen} [J. Reine Angew. Math. 348, 34-39 (1984; Zbl 0536.31009)] is partially answered. Several connections with the Borsuk-Kakutani and Borsuk-Dugundji theorems are mentioned, and open problems are presented.
