The author proves that each right amenably and naturally lattice-ordered inverse semigroup is a distributive lattice. This answers, in the affirmative, the question of whether the general result that the lattice of an amenably and naturally lattice-ordered inverse semigroup is distributive remains valid in the one-sided case. A representation theorem, analogous to that of Anderson and Edwards in the case of distributive lattice-ordered monoids, is obtained for such semigroups by representing them as subdirect products of semigroups of order endomorphisms of suitable chains. As a consequence, it follows that every right amenably and lattice-ordered inverse semigroup is also a left one. In an addendum, the author gives, jointly with B. Bosbach, a direct proof of this fact.
