The author deals with the singularities of a special class of sextics, the so called torus curves of type \((2,3)\). If \(C\) is a complex projective plane curve defined by the equation \(f(x,y)=0\) in the affine chart \(\mathbb{C}^2:=\mathbb{P}^2- \{Z=0\}\), \(C\) is called torus curve of type \((p,q)\) if one can write \(f={f^q}_p+ {f^p}_q\), for some polynomials \(f_p, f_q\) of degree \(p\) and \(q\) respectively in \(\mathbb{C}[x,y]\). The classification proceeds in two steps. At first the author gives a topological classification of local singularities of the curve \(C: f^3_2+f^2_3=0\) at the origin, in the case that the origin is an isolated singularity and the curves \(C_2: f_2=0\) and \(C_3: f_3=0\) pass through it. For that purpose the intersection number \(I(C_2,C_3,0)\) plays an important role. Secondly, using this local result, the author gives a global classification. Moreover, motivated by the problem of computing the fundamental group of the complement \(\mathbb{P}^2- C\), he studies the spaces with fixed configurations and the possible degenerations of such curves. As a corollary of his global classification result, he then shows by explicit equations two new examples of weak Zariski pairs (namely pairs of plane curves \(C\) and \(C'\) with topological equivalent local singularities and with \(\mathbb{P}^2- C\) not homeomorphic to \(\mathbb{P}^2- C'\)), in each of which both curves \(C\) and \(C'\) are torus curves of type \((2,3)\).
