Let \(\Omega\subset\mathbb{C}^n\) be a bounded, not necessary pseudoconvex domain with \(C^\infty\)-boundary. The Dirichlet problem \[ \begin{cases} (dd^cu)^n= \psi(z,u)dV \quad & \text{on }\Omega\\ u=\varphi \quad & \text{on }\partial \Omega\end{cases} \] is considered in the class of plurisubharmonic functions \(u\) with \(C^\infty\)-smooth data \(\psi\) and \(\varphi\). Unlike the case for a strictly pseudoconvex \(\Omega\), the problem need not have a solution. The key assumption made in the paper is that there exists a strictly plurisubharmonic \(C^3(\overline\Omega)\)-subsolution \(v\) (i.e., \((dd^cv)^n \geq \psi dV\), \(v=\varphi\) on \(\partial\Omega)\). Under this condition, the following results are obtained. When \(\psi>0\) on \(\overline\Omega\), the problem has a \(C^\infty (\overline\Omega)\)-solution; for a strictly pseudoconvex \(\Omega\), this was proved in [\textit{L. Caffarelli}, \textit{J. J. Kohn}, \textit{L. Nirenberg} and \textit{J. Spruck}, Commun. Pure Appl. Math. 38, 209-252 (1985; Zbl 0598.35048)]. When \(\psi\) is allowed to vanish on a part of \(\Omega\), there exists a \(C^{1,1}(\overline\Omega)\)-solution (some additional assumption on \(\psi\) and its derivatives are made in this case). Finally, for the homogeneous equation \((\psi=0)\) there is a \(C^{0,1} (\overline\Omega)\)-solution; this extends a classical result due to Bedform and Taylor. The proofs are based on a priori estimates technique developed in [loc. cit.].
