The authors deal with the generalized dynamical systems on a complete metric space and develope for such systems a theory of global attractors. In their approach they keep the characterization of an attractor as well as the formulation of a sufficient condition concerning its existence in a similar form as for the `usual' dynamical systems. Going to problems which may loose the uniqueness property the authors consider in a bounded smooth domain \(\Omega\subset \mathbb{R}^n\) the (degenerate) parabolic equation \((|u|^{s-1} u)_t = \Delta u + a( |u|^{s-1} u, \nabla u)\) with a homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition. The latter problem is shown to generate a generalized dynamical system on \(L^\infty(\Omega)\) for which the existence of a compact attractor is proved.
