The paper is devoted to the study of Fourier transforms of functions of the form \(f(x)\chi_\Omega(x)\), where \(f(x)\) is smooth and \(\chi_\Omega(x)\) is the characteristic function of the bounded domain \(\Omega\) in \(\mathbb{R}^N\) with smooth boundary. As it is known, the decay of these Fourier transforms is related to the geometry of the domains. Now the present authors consider integrals of type \[ I(\rho):= \Biggl\{ \int_{|\sigma|= 1} \Biggl|\int_\Omega f(x)\exp(-2\pi i\rho\sigma\cdot x) dx\Biggr|^2 d\sigma\Biggr\}^{1/2}. \] Among others, they prove that there exists a constant \(c\) such that \[ I(\rho)\approx c\rho^{-(N+1)/2} \Biggl\{\int_{\partial\Omega}|f(x)|^2 dx\Biggr\}^{1/2}, \] provided the support of \(f(x)\) is suitably small. They also present different proofs of known Euclidean results as well as give a brief review of the analogous problems on the hyperbolic disk.
