The authors consider a system of nonrelativistic particles in an Euclidean configuration space \(\mathbb{R}^{n+m}\) whose motion is governed by the Hamiltonian (1) \(H=\frac 12\langle p,p\rangle +V(x)\). They are mainly interested in the motion of these particles when their positions are constrained to lie on some \(n\)-dimensional smooth compact submanifold \(\Sigma\subset \mathbb{R}^{n+m}\). The authors compare the classical and quantum versions that leads to new results in both cases: an unbounded energy theorem in the classical case, and a quantum averaging theorem.
