Boundary layer stability in real vanishing viscosity limit (English)
    27 January 2002
The stability of boundary layers, arising in models of compressible flow involving incompletely parabolic perturbations, is studied under the assumptions that the boundary layer solution is noncharacteristic. As an application the existence of unstable gas dynamicaI boundary layers with inflow is established in the case when viscosity dominates heat conductivity. Finally it is shown that weak boundary layers are spectrally stable. The paper should be of interest to someone working on viscous conservation laws and boundary layers.
